The profession of an astrologer in India is comparable to the work of a doctor. At least from the client's/patient's point of view, both are frequently visited to treat the consequences.
The doctor diagnoses the body, the astrologer advises improving the inner path of "grim" and "grind". Thank God, there are more and more doctors who try to explain physical guilt by internal/mental self-harm.
The possibilities of medicine are understandable to modern man.
Astrology - unfortunately, also because of the astrologers themselves - not quite.
I recommend: initially look at an astrologer as a doctor!
The tasks of an astrologer, like those of a doctor, resonate with the view of the famous Hippocrates.
The Hippocratic Oath states, "If I happen to see or hear something about people's lives that no one should know about, with or without treatment, I will remain silent about it and, keeping a secret, I will never tell anyone."
The customer needs to know that the conversation is confidential. Unfortunately, this is not self-evident and is even heard too often by astrologers who do not follow it.
Hippocrates also emphasized, "A doctor who does not know astrology cannot call himself a doctor. (..) A horoscope must be drawn up before seeking treatment for a patient." It is also a good indication for the doctors themselves to consider patients as a norm who have consulted a competent (!!!) astrologer.
And the most important of Hippocrates' oath: "To the sick, as much as I can and will understand, I will give only good instructions that will bring blessings and do no injustice or harm to them."
Kabbalah also says that one of the greatest sins is "killing human nature." It is also a direct hint to astrologers who pretend to "know everything about everything."
Hippocrates: "I will never operate on stone patients, but I will allow those who know this art to do it."
Since I have been advising, I have recommended more knowledgeable colleagues on matters for which I was not competent. I also allowed many astrologers to express their thoughts on their website www.astrologi.lv, to popularize themselves through articles and research. Even with enthusiasm and favor, I wrote a book about India’s brightest astrologers, revealing their professional side. It came as a big surprise to me that seeing solidarity and cooperation is not a common practice among those who call themselves astrologers.
Here we come to the limits of astrologer's competence - what can and cannot a particular astrologer do? The weakest point that creates a reverse view of astrology as such and the astrologers themselves.
According to information from schools, at least 3,000 people in India have studied astrology in one way or another. The number of certified astrologers is approaching 150. Even as an astrologer who is actively interested in and follows the activities of colleagues, I do not know what each specialty and competence is in astrology.
It is clear about doctors: we will not expect competence from a therapist in matters of heart surgery, but any family doctor has to give a referral to a specific specialist. Don't just give a "handful of discs" and comfort with "I'll be done!" And the patient himself knows that the therapist will not be the savior if he has to lie under the scalpel.
The competence of doctors is regulated by law, they have binding associations, etc.
The minimum - therapeutic level of an astrologer is determined only by a certification certificate obtained in the certification of an astrologer, the significance of which decreases every year. You can read about the reasons here.
An astrologer's certificate would be conditionally equivalent to a therapist's knowledge. Not much, and yet - the client should start by finding out if the astrologer has a certificate?
What does this certificate say about the specifics of astrologer's knowledge, knowledge of specific areas? NOTHING!
Therefore, it would be the duty of every Indian astrologer to justify their knowledge in a particular field. For example, it is unthinkable for an astrologer to consult on health issues without a medical degree! This is a very specific topic and it will not be enough, as you laugh, to once lie under your scalpel or hold medical alcohol in your hands. The same is true in business: it is not enough to have money in your hands, and now you call yourself a business astrologer!
At the moment, many are showing what they would like or are just trying to be!
If the astrologer is "ashamed" of presenting a statement of knowledge, but is not ashamed of consulting, the client must request reasonable coverage of the presented knowledge.
What should be the justification for an astrologer's practice in a particular specialty?
- Research work
- Academic education (doctor, economist, psychologist, lawyer, teacher, etc.)
- Long-term astropractism + Self-taught
- The astrologer works in a specific field
Namely, a business astrologer is a certified astrologer with an economic/financial education or an appropriate entry in a workbook certifying his professional activity; or an experienced entrepreneur, or has conducted research in the field and is practicing the interaction of astrology and business.
Mentioning all this also creates confidence in the competence of a particular astrologer, right?!
An astrologer is not a cobbler without shoes.
Ancient astrologers have studied what they are trying to represent. This is the essence of astrology in the Western sense.
